Non-visual daylight potential in offices: a parametric study

چکیده

Abstract A building design where appropriate daylighting is considered from early stages can enhance the building’s energy performance, as well human well-being and productivity. Daylight naturally regulates our daily biological clock, which synchronizes circadian rhythms. This paper presents a simulation-based parametric study to evaluate non-visual daylight potential. side-lit single office room in Danish climate was simulated Grasshopper 3D. Using Lark plug-in, grid-based image-based workflows were created generate illuminance, light Equivalent Melanopic Lux. In this we compared two cases with extremely high low thermal conditions. The impact of orientation on rhythms sitting person pre-defined view-direction under an overcast clear sky investigated. results indicate that certain combinations minimize access up three times leading higher risk disruption. These disruptions highest winter sky. No building-orientation stimulation for defined observed. Hence, it essential set optimally. Evaluating response phases lead inclusive decision-making enhanced indoor

A Non-Parametric Approach to Visual Correspondence

We describe a method for computing visual correspondence based on the local ordering of intensities. Ordering information is robust to outliers and invariant to mono-tonic intensity distortions such as image gain. Our approach is based on non-parametric measures of association but also accounts for the spatial variation of disparities. We describe some of the mathematical properties of our algo...

Assessing the Relative Performance of U.K. University Technology Transfer Offices: Parametric and Non- Parametric Evidence

We present evidence on the relative efficiency of U.K. university technology transfer offices (TTOs) using data envelopment analysis (DEA) and stochastic frontier estimation (SFE). We find that U.K. TTOs exhibit low levels of absolute efficiency. Universities located in regions with higher levels of R&D and GDP appear to be more efficient in technology transfer, implying that there may be regio...

A comparison of parametric and non-parametric methods of standardized precipitation index (SPI) in drought monitoring (Case study: Gorganroud basin)

The Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) is the most common index for drought monitoring. Although the calculation of this index is usually done by using the gamma distribution fitting of precipitation data, studies have shown that for accurate monitoring of drought, the optimal distribution of precipitation in each month should be determined. On the other hand, in non-stationary time series,...

Evaluating the Effectiveness of Daylight Performance Metrics in Predicting Visual Comfort Case Study: Educational Architecture Design Studios in Tehran

It is essential to ensure that adequate daylight penetrates in, especially, educational environments. In spite of positive significant impacts of daylight on the emotions, concentration, and learning of students, an exceeded amount of light will lead to glare and visual dissatisfaction. Over the last few years, with the help of simulation tools and lighting indices, it is possible to predict li...
